Demand Response was introduced in Japan as a new solution to stabilize the Japanese power supply by adjusting "demand-side resources" rather than the supply side of power.
Customers can cooperate in improving power supply capacity by temporarily shutting down their facilities and reducing their power usage or switching to backup power sources when supply and demand are tight.
This system also allows customers to receive financial incentives for participating in Demand Response. Customers can secure a stable new source of revenue by participating.
Demand Response is open to any company that can shut down operations and also to any company that has power generation facilities.
Enel X has extensive experience in supporting demand response for customers with a wide variety of facilities, including refrigerated/freezer warehouses, factories, data centers and IT companies, schools, shopping centers, and office buildings.
Below are some examples of what companies do during Demand Response that we are frequently asked about.

Participating Demand Response does not affect normal operations
There are many industries/facilities other than those listed above as examples that can also benefit greatly from Demand Response.
Many customers can participate in Demand Response by simply shifting electricity-intensive processes by a few hours.
