- The photovoltaic systems implemented on the roof of the PENNY Romania warehouses ensure an annual electricity production of 445 MWh each; together they cut down carbon dioxide emissions by 771 tons / year.
- The projects developed together with Enel X bring retailer PENNY annual electricity-related savings estimated at about 150,000 euros.
Bucharest, April 2, 2021 - Enel X Romania, part of Enel X, the advanced energy services division of the Enel Group, implements two projects for the development of photovoltaic systems for retailer PENNY Romania in Turda and Ștefănești, with an installed capacity of 1,250 kWp.
The project in Turda involves the turnkey delivery of a photovoltaic system consisting of 1,235 photovoltaic panels located on the roof of the PENNY warehouse in the city. In Ștefănești, Enel X Romania will implement a photovoltaic system that involves the installation of 1,573 photovoltaic panels on the roof of the local PENNY warehouse. In both cases, the photovoltaic systems include bifacial monocrystalline solar cells (double glass), a novelty on the Romanian market.
The main advantage of the solar cells of this type is the simultaneous conversion of the incident light on both surfaces of the device, a process that increases the electricity production by up to 30%, significantly reducing the cost of electricity of the solar system, and therefore providing a higher return on investment.
„Enel X Romania supports the sustainability strategies of companies and offers them customized solutions that reduce their electricity costs, allowing them to track their energy production and consumption. Beyond the economic advantages, the photovoltaic systems reduce the impact on the environment by cutting the carbon footprint. We are happy to have among our customers companies such as PENNY Romania, which choose clean energy, from renewable sources, to help communities benefit from a clean and safe environment", said Mirel Jarnea, Head of B2B Enel X Romania.
"One of the strategic pillars of our concept of sustainability is energy, climate and environment, so we always aim to reduce the energy consumption in stores, logistics centres and administrative buildings. A functioning energy management system means not only saving, but also responsibility towards the environment and the communities in which PENNY is present. We always make sure we find efficient solutions, which are also environmentally friendly, and photovoltaic panels are one of the best examples", said Traian Despa, Head of Construction PENNY Romania.
The photovoltaic systems implemented on the roof of the PENNY Romania warehouses ensure an annual electricity production of 445 MWh each; together they cut down carbon dioxide emissions by 771 tons / year. The projects developed together with Enel X bring retailer PENNY annual electricity-related savings estimated at about 150,000 euros.
The project supports the sustainability strategy of PENNY Romania, which aims to responsibly consume energy and use alternative sources of electricity to protect the environment by avoiding emissions that are harmful to the climate.
The equipment and technologies used by Enel X in the project have high performance and reliability, coming from important suppliers from the global photovoltaic systems market.
